Pre-op Appt

My Pre-op appt is in one hour and I hope I have all the right questions to ask. Aside from the ones I already know I have a ton to ask. Can anyone think of out of the ordinary questions that people would not normally think of?

Re: Pre-op Appt

1. Ask about shaving or waxing, or if anything is needed.
2. Ask how he or she closes the incision (I didn't want staples because I scar badly)
3. Ask what he or she will do if they find something unexpected such as cancer or endometriosis in there.
4. Ask what they will do to help you control nausea if you have it or what they will do if the pain is not under control after the surgery.
5. If you are staying in the hospital for a few days, ask about his or her visitation schedule with you.

That is all I can think of that might be a bit way out there.

Re: Pre-op Appt

I went to my pre op appointment. I forgot everything. Couldn't remember a question at all. Thankfully my doctor is great and he covered everything. A lot of what is discussed here, he covered. I felt better after. I'll say this though.... I was a mess before. My nerves are at an all time high right now. I can't relax for anything. But I think I'm going in as an informed consumer and I feel good about that.

Re: Pre-op Appt

We have it on the same day SO GOOD LUCK!! Did you get the option of a PCA pump or an epidural. He told me yesterday at mine that I had an option but I don't really care for the epidural because I had problems with it with both my kids.

Re: Pre-op Appt

He didn't say and I didn't ask... But I do know I get a little something to calm me down before. My big thing is the catheter. I had one back in 93 which resulted in a kidney infection that put me in the hospital for 6 days. I'm getting a super strong antibiotic before
and after surgery to help keep the bad
stuff away. I'm also getting those leg
warmer/massager things which I'm
happy about. I really did space out for my pre op!

Good luck to you too!
