Recent SAH - hot flashes

I had my SAH on 8/10, still have my ovaries but I guess they're not functioning right. In the last week I've started having hot flashes. They're worse at night, but I get them randomly throughout the day too. I can't get comfortable. If I keep the AC on high enough to help me with the flushes, I'm freezing half the time.

My next appointment with my gyn is three weeks from now. If I'm still having these hot flashes, I'll definitely bring it up with him. In the meantime, I'm wondering if there are any natural/herbal remedies that are safe and worth trying. Any advice? Thanks!

Re: Recent SAH - hot flashes

You are still very early post op. During a hysterectomy the blood supply to the ovary(s) can be cut off. It can take some time for the ovary(s) to wake back up. The symptoms you are experiencing are not unusual at all.

IMHO, I would hesitate to take anything at this time, given that your symptoms are fairly normal. I would give it some more time.

Thanks, Kim. How much time are we talking? Days, weeks, months?

Re: Recent SAH - hot flashes

Well, I can hang in there until I see my doc in three weeks... but I've GOT to start getting a decent night's sleep in order to function. I won't be able to go back to work if I can't get the hot flashes under control. Not to mention the headaches and the queasy stomach. Ugh.
