Concerns about my TLH

I'm new to this site, and I'm scheduled to have a total laparscopic hysterectomy on tuesday morning. I am incredibly nervous!!

What is the recovery usually like after having a TLH? I'm really nervous about being able to care for my 3 kids, especially my clingy 2 year old. My husband got two weeks of fmla leave, but after that I am on my own. Am I going to be able to do this??

One of my biggest concerns is after everything has healed. I've read a few articles that made it sound like having orgasms after having your cervix removed is almost impossible. I'm only 32, and hope to have a great sex life for many more years!! Sorry to be so blunt.

I had my cervix and uterus removed six weeks ago. Everyone heals at a different rate, personally am a bit of a slow healer, I am still sore and not yet released to go back to work. You may be fine to care for your kids after two weeks but I don't think you'll be able to lift your two year old for a while. My limit lifting is still just 5 pounds or so. As for orgasm after surgery, I have not been cleared for sex but I have had an orgasm. It was no more difficult to reach than before but did lack the intensity because I used to feel my cervix and uterus contract and now of course that is gone. I think women who have ovaries removed may experience other issues such as dryness. Don't be shy, ask your doctor all these questions first. I asked very specific questions to both my gyne (who's a man) and also my GP. I asked about sex, orgasm, dryness, menopause, how will the end of the vagina be closed up, what will be supporting the vagina since all the structure of the uterus is gone... There is no such thing as a dumb question! Better to know beforehand so you can mentally prepare.
