Estradiol tested off the charts. Should I be worried?

Hi! I'm 8 yrs post-op (kept ovaries). Have been taking a rx Estradiol pill .05mg/daily for 18 mos. Lately have been feeling a huge amount of anxiety/heart palps/acne/insomnia, even panic attack feelings when in crowds. Had hormones tested thru bloodwork this week and my estradiol came back at 574. Compounding pharmacist says normal number should be around 60. My friends are saying that could be a sign of cancer! All other hormones were within the lab's range. I was told to buy Milk Thistle to cleanse my liver of some of that Estradiol. Should I be scared?, or is this something I can reverse.. Had problems early on with progesterone cream, so no other hormones have been supplemented in several years.. Thank You for any words of advise. I'm 52, 5'6", 112 lbs.

Re: Estrodial tested off the charts. Should I be worried?

High estradiol levels are not a sign of cancer; I have no idea where your friends might have heard this, but they're mistaken.

What did your doctor have to say about your test results? 574 (depending on the units used) sounds quite high, but to me, 60 sounds a bit low. We each feel best at our own unique level.

Rather than just take milk thistle, I'd suggest asking your doctor if you might need a liver function test. The milk thistle won't hurt (assuming you're taking a reasonable dose), but it won't necessarily help, either.

Re: Estradiol tested off the charts. Should I be worried?

Hi,
mine tends to be higher than most but that is where I feel the best.
You could try cutting your estrogen back a little ( a tad) and see how you do. I have found that exercise for me is a fairly quick way to lower estrogen levels provided you don't add more back in.
