Exhausted from prep. Anyone else?
I started the prep at 7:00 this morning. Bottle of magnesium caltrate and two dulcolax. I am exhausted!!! I have to take an other bottle at 5:00. No desire to eat anything from the liquid diet menu.
Did anyone else feel this way? Will it cause me any problems if I don't drink anything other then water? My system is just worn out.

Re: Exhausted from prep. Anyone else?
I think you could have any clear liquid - apple juice, white grape juice, sprite/7Up....
Then again, I am not a Dr., but am thinking of what I am allowed when I have a colonoscopy.

Re: Exhausted from prep. Anyone else?
The prep can be very disgusting and exhausting. However, keep the end in mind and follow your doctor's instructions. When I did my prep I was allowed only clear broth. I really believe that sticking to the instructions from my doctor on my prep helped me to have a successful surgery. You only have to do this prep one day, then after your surgery tomorrow, you will be back to eating/drinking your favorite things. Hang in there and Good Luck!

Please drink at much as you can. You do not want to go into surgery dehydrated.

They do say don't drink anything after midnight... is that sufficient?

Re: Exhausted from prep. Anyone else?
That is right... don't drink anything after midnight, but until then, drink as much as you can. It will help with getting the IV into your veins. The prep dehydrates you as it is so it is best to try to do the fluids.

Re: Exhausted from prep. Anyone else?
Nope, I only had a clear fluid diet the day before surgery. Different doctors order different things.
It is very important that you follow your doctor's instructions as he or she will expect your organs to be a certain way when they do surgery. If they are not, you risk having complications such as nicked or cut intestines and other tissues.
I hope this helps.
