Re: Pre-op over, had me in tears.

Sometimes they cauterize (burn) the tissues instead of stitching them together. If you watch a laparoscopic hysterectomy video, you will see them using heat to cut through tissues rather than a knife. The heat seals off the blood vessels so they don't bleed.

Re: Pre-op over, had me in tears.

You may wish to switch to a surgeon who is more experienced in LSH. He may be excellent at TVH but if he can't cut it and "bag" it he may have to do a larger abdominal incision. Since keeping your cervix is important to you please get all your questions answered and consult a second surgeon if necessary.

Re: Pre-op over, had me in tears.

Hi Lisamarieann,

I also had a LSH...and I am still very pleased with my decision to have the surgery type...and keep my cervix...which my Dr. did cauterize during my hyst.

~Sending best wishes

Re: Pre-op over, had me in tears.

Surgery went well! He did do LSH, only removing my uterus. I had excruciating pain in my shoulders due to the gas but that's subsiding. Now I just have a lot of pain at incision sites.

Good for you!! I was the same way and wanted to make sure I kept my cervix!! My doctor was great and he wanted me to keep my cervix cause of the benefits it has.

Good to hear it went well. I had a little of that also it will get better towards the night. Make sure they give you your breathing machine and take deep breaths and breathe out and cough. Its going to be hard to cough but i think it helps. Take Care!

This is wonderful news! I am so happy you let us know. I am so happy you got to keep your cervix.

I believe it gets better every day. today is the first day I feel super tired. so I am allowing myself a lazy day in bed.

Glad all is well. I heard that about the shoulders and neck. Hope I don't get that too badly.
