surgery cancelled - new doctor

Well, I'm a week out from my surgery date and the hospital called today and said that my doctor is "on an extended leave of absence". They aren't rescheduling any surgeries with him. So they made me a new appointment in two weeks to see a new doctor who will probably set up a surgery date with me then.

I was so ready for this to happen soon , now I might have to wait until January because of my schedule. It has been a scramble to try to get everything lined up and covered for me to be gone 6-8 weeks. I have turned a lot of work down that I can't get back now (and really need)

On the other hand, if something is amiss with this doctor then it may be a really good thing that this is happening.

Sorry to vent, but it really helps.
Thanks for listening!

I'm sorry to hear that! I can't imagine how devastated I would be if my surgery date got set back!! I hope everything works out for you.

Re: surgery cancelled - new doctor

I know how frustrating it is when your surgery gets canceled like that, but your new date will come soon, faster than it seems to creep up. 3 months ago it felt like forever, and now for me it's next week. The beat advice I can give you is to be pro-active about this. Make sure you get the time you need.

It does get better even if it's really frustrating now. It's been a long winding road but there is an end.

It is frustrating to have your surgery rescheduled! I had to do it twice, but the ultimately the timing was perfect. Hopefully you will feel good about your new doctor!

Re: surgery cancelled - new doctor

Thank you everyone for your kind thoughts. I'm feeling a little better now-my sweet husband took me out to my favorite Indian restaurant and a movie last night to cheer me up a bit.

Aille, thanks for reminding me that three months will go by eventually as it did for you. Best wishes next week and also for TangoRomeo!

I have to believe that this is probably for the best somehow and hopefully this will be a doctor I can feel really good about.
