Fibroids

Hello Im 36 and have been suffering for yrs not knowing what the problem was I suffered really heavy bleeding and stomache cramps nearlly all the time so my G.p sent me to see a gyni for tests they decided that I should have a microwave Ablation operation to stop my periods. As I already had three children I also decided to get sterilized thought it might help with the stomache pains after waking up in hospital the nurse thought I didn't need any other pain killer than paracetamol so I went home in alot of pain,
I slowly recovered and my periods stopped for nearlly a year so I was thinking the gyni had sorted out my problem..... No such luck !!!

My periods came back even heavier and my stomache cramps started getting worse, I was then diagnoised with Fibromyalgia and CFS so my mind was taken off my period problem for a bit even though it never disappeared..

Earlier this year It came to the point I was loosing so much blood and large blood clots and the pains were so bad I couldn't even walk that my G.P thought It could be cancer so I went to a cancer specialist and had a biopsy and scans and tests then waited weeks for the results... to my relief the tests came back all clear...Apart from lots of Fibroids..

I was told to keep a diary of when and for how long I bled and how heavy it was ect... After a few weeks I was getting worse my doctor gave me an internal and examined me she said my fibroids have swollen so much that there at the size of a 14 week pregnancy and still swelling she said the pains Iv'e been suffering are my scar tissue from previous operation ripping me apart inside, she told me I need a hysterectomy as soon as possible so Im just waiting for an appointment then operation date..

Im taking morphine for the pains and Im bleeding continually at the moment so hoping they hurry up.. I suffer more pain because of my fibromyalgia so will need more morphine after my operation..

not looking forward to it Im scared stiff but know it needs doing because I can't carry on like this much longer.

Im so glad I found this site... Any help or info is much needed.

hugs xxx
Amanda

Re: Fibroids

Hi Amanda,
Sounds like you've been through a lot. I also had large fibroids and heavy bleeding and went through the cancer testing the results came out negative. I had my surgery three months ago TAH with BSO. I can tell you the week before I cried many times and was so anxious. Afterwards the first week was a little rough but after that the healing process went smoothly. Now it feels great not to have to worry about making plans or what to wear because my periods no longer rule or better yet ruin my life. I have energy again and feel so much better. There is light at the end of the tunnel. These boards are great source for support and info, they got me through the pre-op craziness. Good Luck and best wishes for a speedy recovery
