How long between dose changes?

I just had my lavh 9 days ago. I had some generic patch on (0.01) post op but was given Vivelle Dot and have used those since (0.075). How long before I can accurately tell if this is the right dose? I was having hot flashes before this last patch but was late putting the new one on. Have had this one on since early Fri am and have had two flashes today. Thoughts??

Re: How long between dose changes?

I'd give it at least 6 weeks for the level to stabilize in your body. If you're using v-dot patches, they're changed twice/week. If you're late in changing them, your E level will drop and you'll likely have more flashes. But, since you're only 9 days out of surgery, you can expect a lot of fluctuations in estrogen anyway, as your body will likely be using up the stored estrogen as well as using the estrogen from the patch. Usually we wait about 6-8 weeks before making more changes.

Re: How long between dose changes?

Calypso,

Thanks so much. I'm trying to read all I can but it gets a bit confusing. I've had two very teary days and that's new too. I assume that may be part of the ride as well? Fun! Lol. But at least I'm not on this one alone.

You are still very early post op. Your body is going thru many changes right now. I would give it even longer than 6 weeks considering how early post op you are.

Re: How long between dose changes?

I am 5 months post op and I use the vivelle dot patch. The longer I have been on it the better I have felt. I make sure I change the patch at the same time like clock work. One thing I have learned, is to be patient with myself. I have to work at that one
