Is this normal to feel like this?

It is getting down to the count and I feeling less and less myself. I am eating alot and not really wanting to do anything. I am tried all the time and I don't want to go to work. I guess I am stress just thinking about everything. I am worried about kids and not being able to help them with things. My husband has been great but I know he is worried. Is this normal to feel like this. I have had surgery before and never felt like this before.

Re: Is this normal to feel like this?

I can relate and I am still waiting for a surgery date. I swear it is consuming my thoughts. Between the wondering about the procedure, plus the constant discomfort and pain I think I am going crazy! I don’t sleep through the night. I am up at least twice to pee and warm my heating pad. Mornings are so tough; I only want to stay in bed. I drag my butt to work and crash on the couch as soon as I get home. Oh how I wish this was all over!

Re: Is this normal to feel like this?

I am so glad that I found this website. This has helped me alot. Just reading all the stories and knowing I am not a lone out there. I hope you get a surgery date soon. I know I found out the middle of August and had to wait to get my surgery date and when they go me all set up I was thinking it would be sooner but it wasn't so now with it getting closer I want to get it over and start the recovery. Good luck.

Re: Is this normal to feel like this?

Ladies everything your feeling is very normal....take it from someone who was a total mess before surgery...I wasn't sleeping had headaches just thinking about it...I have a great support system with my husband and kids so they made it easier to deal with it... We all talked about was expected of them so they knew what they needed to do... They helped with preparing everything around house to make it easier for me to get around...I am 5weeks post-op TAH and just feeling good so take your time after and don't rush it..., good luck to you all will go good

Re: Is this normal to feel like this?

I totally understand how you feel.

My surgery will be one day before yours. For 3 months I have been busy busy getting healthy, researching and getting my life in order.

After I was given my surgery date, I did ok for the next 2 weeks. Now, I feel like I have hit a wall. I don't want to get up in the morning, I am having trouble sleeping, the headaches are getting bigger, I have checklists that I don't want to follow and my hair is falling out.

It is almost like I am shutting down. I'm thinking about talking to my doctor to see if there is something to lower the anxiety. My surgery is sooo close; yet sooo far away still!

But it sounds like it is all normal. Hang in there. The next 2 weeks will go by eventually (at least that is what I keep telling myself).

Re: Is this normal to feel like this?

Good luck I will keep you in my thoughts. I am trying so hard not to stress about everything. My kids and husband have been great I know everything will go ok. What time is your surgery? I have to be at the hospital at 11:00 am and I think surgery is to be around 1:00 p.m. long wait.

Re: Is this normal to feel like this?

I feel the same way and I don't even have a date yet. I have a 2 year old. I won't be able to do anything for him and it's killing me. I can't figure out how to prepare a 2 year old for something like this. I need a vertical incision up past my belly button. I'll be out of commission for a long time. No climbing on the equipment with him at the park. No wrestling around with him... I feel helpless. The worst part is that other than heavy bleeding and getting winded easily, I feel pretty good. But I know the surgery will be even worse if I put it off and the fibroids continue to grow quickly. UGH!

Re: Is this normal to feel like this?

Normal is genuinely however you feel. We all have our ways of coping with it: your brain and your body are both doing the necessary things to get ready for the day ahead of you. I was an absolute mess right before surgery, and this really seems like par for the course.
