Eating for two, me and my uterus
The past 24 hours I have been ravenous, eating everything in sight. Worse is afterward, though I'm not overeating, even a small meal makes me feel nauseated. When I'm not eating or drinking something, I'm thinking of food.
I know I'm nervous, heck, the whole household is tiptoeing around me, but I'm usually not a stress eater. I'm just thankful I talked my doc into a bowel prep (she doesn't require it but I know how my body shuts down after ab surgery. Learned the hard way after having a 12-inch pastrami sub and bag of ketchup chips a few hours before my emergency C-section!) I'm aware that I'll have no appetite for a few days post-op and I'm probably psyching myself out.
I wish I chewed my nails or knitted or something!
Monday, come soon please.

Re: Eating for two, me and my uterus
That totally makes whacked-out evolutionary sense: your body would pick up on the "upcoming difficult thing" messages sent by your mind, and beasties that we are at the heart of things, the only mental picture your non-intellectual parts can come up with is, "Winter's coming--gotta load up!"
I was worried, two days before, that I wouldn't be able to handle a day with just clear liquids, plus no food or water on surgery day. I ended out just fine--not even very hungry, surprisingly enough (maybe because I'd basically been eating butterflies for several days beforehand, so stomach was full no matter what?) And once they give you the IV, you know that everything your body needs is going directly where it ought to.
Monday will come: I so much look forward to your posts from the other side!

Re: Eating for two, me and my uterus
I am scheduled for my lvah on october 3rd. Sounds like you know some about bowl prep. I have heard nothing of it yet. Do you recomend it? Why?
I had a colonoscopy and had to have clear liquid diet all day prior and bowel prep. I had a hard time with this as i have hypoglycemia and can hardly go few hours without eating.
Best wishes to you on Monday let us know how it goes

Eat all you want just make sure it is healthy food. Lots of protein for healing. Fresh fruits and veges will help keep things "running".
I am wondering if Starbucks can make me a clear pumpkin latte?

Eating for 2
Thats what I've been doing ever since I found out about my fibroids and my upcoming hysterectomy. I think I've put on 4 kilos in the last 5 weeks.OMG is all I can say...
My surgery is on the 27th so it's time I slowed down my eating as my doc hasn't mentioned anything about a bowel prep and I dont want to be bogged up...
@orphan1965
Loving the idea of a pumpkin latte as long as it tastes like a coffee I'm up for it...lol

Re: Eating for two, me and my uterus
My daughter had a softball game today so we went out to dinner afterward because I know I can't eat tomorrow. I don't normally eat the whole hamburger and fries but I cleared my plate tonight. I think I must be stocking up or something. LOL I am not looking forward to the bowel prep tomorrow...yuck.

Re: Eating for two, me and my uterus
I am doing the same thing- if it is not nailed down- I am eating it. I am nervous and scared- and part of me is sad that this is happening to me. I have tried to eat more protein and veggies- but broke down today after cleaning my house and cooking lemon pound cake (for what reason I dont know) and went to mcdonalds for french fries! I have tried to keep my mind on foods that are on my weight watchers plan- but was so depressed today that all I could think was to make me happy... so got what I wanted. Then went out with parents and ate seafood- so feel miserable and hating it. I have my total hysterectomy with ovaries (dont know what abreviation I need to use) on wednesday and have the bowel prep on tuesday-just ready to get this over with... or I will gain all of my weight back that I have lost already... if I have not already done that this week. Second surgery in two months- so really hating this so far.

Re: Eating for two, me and my uterus
I've never done the bowel prep; my major surgeries have all been emergent rather than planned. However, I have had major pain after those surgeries from having impacted bowels; I suffer from hemorrhoids and fissures, so I would prefer not to have anything backed up in there. My surgeon gave me the choice; she thought I was a nut, but she understood my reasoning.
I pity the mortgage company on Monday. I have a caffeine addiction and become a complete wench sans food or coffee, and I have to deal with an insurance issue on an empty, coffee less stomach. I shall not be charming.

Re: Eating for two, me and my uterus
Thank you all for the support. I am happy to know I'm not alone. Up till this weekend, I've been eating like a bird, because my belly is so swollen and I've been so nervous. I guess it would make sense, knowing I'll be hungry for a few days. Then again, having been unable to exercise for 9 months, I'll have plenty of fat reserves to feed off of, lol!

Re: Eating for two, me and my uterus
Hi Mrs Allnut,
I went crazy today going on a liquid diet before my bowel prep (I found it to be less painful) - I work in a restaurant and was staring at food all day. I plan to start my bowel prep early- like 5 am, which is in three hours, because I know last time it took a while to kick in,like 4 hours, then it lasted FOREVER!!! I was still having to go as they were wheeling me into surgery-YUCK! So, this time I am hoping it will be all over with by say 9 pm tomorrow and I can get a good nights sleep before my surgery. I have to be to the hospital at 6am, and I don't need to be totally exhausted when I will already be caffeine deprived. Good luck to you for tomorrow and monday and I will see you on the other side.
