only one day to go and nerves are going haywire...

Never thought I would be this nervous! I have cried and been upset since finding out about having this full hysterectomy and the "fun" aspect about going into early menapause- but in the last few days I have started feeling paranoid about what is going on. Since I found out- I have closed my pool, cleaned my house, cooked some meals, washed and groomed puppy, made sure enough cat and dog food is in place and of course- cat litter... and caught up with all cataloging and cleaning at work, including testing I am responsible for and writing notes for sub for next four weeks. I am exhausted and actually wanting this to get over with so I can move on- but when I start thinking about the surgery, I wonder if somethings going to go wrong, what if a mistake is made, or what if they do find cancer (like my gyn told me I had a chance of having). I know I have no control of what is going ot happen- but the not knowing is killing me! UGH! How can I control this? I already take meds- so that is not going to help. Actually writing this is helping some- cause I cant mention any of this to hubby or family... they are already freaking out about me having this done and about the C word possibly showing up. I just want to get through tomorrow and the bowel prep... and deal with whatever results are made. Nerves are failing me now...

Re: only one day to go and nerves are going haywire...

Sweetie, these are very normal feelings. I cried too after finding I was to have a TAH BSO. I was also nervous - surgery is very nerve racking. It is very hard to turn your self over like that. The doctors and nurses will take very good care of you - they will help you through this.

I understand how the possibility of cancer can make this even worse. I had an ovarian cyst that they tested while I was in the OR - mine was benign, thank goodness. So were my fibroides. I hope your screening also turns out benign, too.

This site is full of wonderful, strong women who know what you are going through. Post frequently and often. It does help. Keep us posted on your results.

Good luck during surgery. We will be waiting for you on the other side!

Re: only one day to go and nerves are going haywire...

I'm sorry you're having such a hard time. I don't have any advice since mine is another week away, but I wanted to give you some sympathy for how you're feeling, especially not wanting to burden your family with your worries. Why do women always have to be so strong? I really want to let someone take care of me for awhile! My friend had hers this morning so last night she came over about 9 pm and I hilighted her hair and gave her a haircut and we watched a movie. I managed to take her mind off it, or at least be there for her to vent to, for a few hours. Kept her up late so all she had to do was go home and go to sleep and wake up and go to the hospital. I'm hoping I get a nesting feeling before mine and do some heavy duty cleaning. My house is a mess but all I feel like doing is sleeping! Good luck Wed! I'm sure all will go well. I'll be praying for you!
