Re: Anyone else out there feel like an emotional mess at times and still have ovaries

The blood supply is usually disrupted when you have a hysterectomy so your ovaries tend to "go to sleep". It takes time for the blood supply to reestablish itself and in a few cases it never does. You might want to talk to your physician about some temporary HRT to get you through this.

Re: Anyone else out there feel like an emotional mess at times and still have ovaries

I'm six weeks post-op tomorrow and my emotions are just now starting to settle down into something that resembles normal. The first two weeks were pretty bad, breaking down sobbing over the stupidest little things... then it got a little better, then I had a week or so of hot flashes (around week three) and figured out that my ovaries must not be working right. Thankfully, that's gotten better and I haven't had a hot flash in over two weeks now.

When do you see your doctor again?

Re: Anyone else out there feel like an emotional mess at times and still have ovaries

I do!! I try to remind myself that it's rational because, even though I still have my ovaries, I (we!) *did* just go through surgery, which was traumatic to our bodies and it's completely normal to feel this way after ANY surgery.

But I hear you. It sucks. My emotions are all over the place and I'm only POD6! Feeling hopeless today but I know that this, too, will most likely pass. Just gotta take it one day at a time, one hour at a time, one minute at a time if necessary. But, yikes. I am so with you. Wishing you all the best . . .

Thanks Danni,
This makes sense, hopefully mine will wake up!! Not too wild about taking HRT.

Fenchurch, thanks for your reply, it is encouraging!! Hopefully I will have the same experience. I'm almost 3 weeks post op! I don't see my doctor until my 4 weeks on Oct 3rd.

Re: Anyone else out there feel like an emotional mess at times and still have ovaries

Thanks Tango, today so far is a good day. I think I need to get outside a little more and get some sunshine too. I am working from home with my lap top doing payroll, answering emails etc and feel too homebound so tomorrow I'm going to start out walking around the block!!

Thanks so much for your encouragment!

Re: Anyone else out there feel like an emotional mess at times and still have ovaries

My first week home I was a mess! In a 24 hour period I accused my hubby of cheating, threatened my cat's boy parts and threatened my children with boarding school. Thankfully, at almost 6 weeks, I'm almost tolerable. lol

Re: Anyone else out there feel like an emotional mess at times and still have ovaries

I had my hysterectomy on August 19th and I feel just like you do. I can cry one minute and then get angry the next. I also feel very tired and I am not my normal self. I am going for my post op appointment tomorrow so hopefully they will be able to do something to help me. Good luck.
