Belley band or not???

I am having a lavh on October 3rd. Will I or should I get a belley band for this type of procedure?

I would ask my doc but she is out of town untill day of pre op which is three days before surgery and I don't think that leaves time to order one.

Will a belley band make me feel suffocated? Or tight?

Please help. I amsoooo anxious about this

Re: Belley band or not???

I was also wondering the same thing. I am going to buy one from belly bandit. They are made from bathing suit type material so I am sure it will be nice and not stiff. I figure it can't hurt anything and might give extra support since our tummies will be missing a huge organ lol

Re: Belley band or not???

How soon after surgery do you begin wearing the belly band?

Re: Belley band or not???

And, which one are you going to get -- do they recommend one just for women who have had hysterectomies?

Re: Belley band or not???

On their website they say it is great for women who have hysterectomys because it holds your muscles in and helps keep swelling down. I was going to go to a store that sells them in my area so I can see first hand what the difference is between the types they sell. They say to wear it as soon as you can and for a couple weeks. People say they are light and comfy. I want to try everything so my tummy doesn't get swelly and any worse off. Lol and they help when you sleep to keep pressure on your tummy so it reduces pain. That's all I have heard. So I don't think it will hurt anything. All I have heard are positive reviews. Google belly bandit and look at their website :-)

Re: Belley band or not???

I just ordered a Belly Bandit in Bamboo! I figured it couldn't hurt to try it and if it does end up helping great... and if not, it was only $60 and I could probably give it to a postpartum friend or resell it on eBay. I've seen a few reviews from hysterectomy patients that have loved them, so crossing my fingers!

Re: Belley band or not???

I got mine at the hospital, they put it on before I woke up. I had an LSH and I *love* my abd binder!! It helped especially those first few days with the gas pains, I had it on as tight as I could stand it and it really did make me more comfortable. I still wear it now, more for support and to *ahem* not look so swelly, lol!

Re: Belley band or not???

ouch! I can't afford even sixty or forty or thirty for one. I saw one some where for twenty. I have kids and no job and just life.
Guess maybe I will be with out one unless I find a cheap one. or maybe the hospital will give me one hope fully

Re: Belley band or not???

Do you have an ace bandage around the house anywhere? Left over from one of the kids' sprained ankles? You can use that the same way as a belly band--you'll just need to wrap it around a few more times.

I had my laproscopic total hysterectomy (except the cervix) on 9/12 and am feeling great at this point. Every now and then when I'm walking my abdomen feels kind of "loose" inside, but the feeling goes away if I rest and press my hands against it.

Re: Belley band or not???

Dana,
I do not but it would be cheaper to buy that. I am having a lavh so close to the type you had. I am keeping ovaries only.

SO have you had to use the belley band? Are you fine with out it?

Thanks for advice all
