Why am I working myself up!

Scheduled for surgery Tuesday and both my daughters have colds so I talked to doctor yesterday and he gave me the Z Pack just in case its something bacterial and he said if only I have a cold he will still do surgery as long as it is not in my chest. Now I feel like it is in my chest! I know it is not cause he just listened to my chest yesterday and I know it is all in my head but how do I stop making myself crazy like this???

Re: Why am I working myself up!

You aren't being crazy, you are being careful. Having fluid in your chest is extremely uncomfortable when you have to cough post op! It is natural to obsess; you want to be at your healthiest and the last thing anyone wants to hear is their surgery is cancelled due to an illness! I thought I was getting a cold, turned out my allergies were kicking in, which was a simple fix. There really isn't much you can do beyond using your relaxation techniques; steady even breathing, distraction (watch a movie? read a book?) It's going to be okay. You are going to be okay.
