extra skin and fat frommissing uterus??

Hi I am having a lavh on the third of October. Ten Days!!

I do not have a flat tummy already and am fighting to bring it down. I do have extra skin that I have to deal with from when I was way over weight and having two kids.

So I am freaking out wondering if after my hysto since uterus wont' be there, I saw some post where ladies had said it made them look thinner. I am wondering if I am gonna have more "fat" or "extra skin"

Any one have to deal with this? I no way have a board stomach.

Any thing will help

And thank you all hyster sisters...I have asked many many things and have gotten much support

Re: extra skin and fat frommissing uterus????

that's a great question, and one that i'm curious about the answer, as well! i am kind of in the same boat as you w/being overweight, etc, from kids. and having had 2 c-sections, as well. albeit - they were 17 & 19 yrs ago - but i still haven't lost the "belly".

it would be sooooooooooooooooo great if it does help to look thinner! i would love it!

Re: extra skin and fat frommissing uterus????

I have a little extra tummy-have had since giving birth to my two 10 lb. big headed baby boys. They are the reason for all this hysterectomy stuff having to happen. Anyway, I have had the tummy since. Can't make skin that has been stretched beyond belief to go back into place! LOL.

I do not notice anything different about my belly, except that it still swells from time to time. It's the same size, except now I have that bikini "smile" across the bottom of it. I am having trouble getting my old jeans zipped, but I think that's because I had a 12 week recovery period when I couldn't do anything! I maybe lost some muscle tone-okay, lots of muscle tone. I am working on that now.

Unfortunately, the uterus isn't large enough-unless it's filled with huge fibroids or tumors-to make much of a difference once removed. I really think once the dreaded "swelly belly syndrome" passes, you will look about the same as before, only with tiny little incisions that will soon disappear, on your tummy. Sorry, I don't think this is what you wanted to hear, but the only other option is a tummy tuck. I don't like pain well enough to do that, but some sisters have it done along with their hyster.

Best wishes, ladies on your upcoming "crownings"! Let us know how your are.

Re: extra skin and fat frommissing uterus??

Keep in mind, the average uterus is about the size of your fist. So unless you have a grossly enlarged uterus or large fibroids, what is removed isn't all the big so it won't leave much space behind. The area where your uterus is removed will be filled in by your body organs as they adjust.

Many of us don't notice a change at all. Those who have large fibroids are the ones who seem to notice a change in their stomach size and appearance.

Re: extra skin and fat frommissing uterus??

Well If it doesn't make me skinner that is fine, I was mostly worried that it would dip in too much and make it look like i had even more extra fat. That was my main worry. I have a hared enough time with my tummy now. Not that I wouldn't go through with surgery, still am

Re: extra skin and fat frommissing uterus??

well, from the sounds of it, i guess mine will go down some! i have 1 huge fibroid, several other smaller ones, and a uterus that's 75% larger than it should be. so that means i might lose some????? i know that whenever i eat - i swell up like a balloon. i look like i'm pregnant right after eating. its awful. and that's all something new in the past 2 months. so, i guess i have SOMETHING to look forward to, besides being pain-free? LOL

i might ask about that tummy tuck thing. not sure my insurance will agree to it, though. can't hurt to ask, right? all they can say is no.
