Binders?

I am unsure of which to get. I am scheduled for LAVH but may turn into TAH..depending on scar tissue. I talked to Dr. today and they will not be supplying my ab binder. But he reassured me that I don't need to spend $50 or $60 on one. He said go to walmart or walgreens and get one for under $20. I have read posts about the discomfort of the cheap ones but I don't want to shell out $$$ that I don't have to. This is already adding up quickly. Any opinions of ladies that have used the different binders would be very helpful....Thanks

Re: Binders?

I just bought one from cvs for $38 but at Hystersisters store they are $39 but come with 2 cool packs that can be used either hot or cold so I'm returning the cvs one, you will be using it for quite some time. To me this one is worth the money, walmarts are cheap and will roll up on you. All in all its your decision, good luck. Cat

Re: Binders?

OK....so I finally decided to go with a belly bandit...however..when I measured my waist it was 37 inches. Small goes up to 37 inches and medium starts at 38. I think I should go with medium for swelling issues but not sure. I lose and gain so rapidly I am sure whatever I order will be wrong in the end anyways. Any insight on sizes for these would be GREAT! Thanks ladies...

Re: Binders?

I didn't try any other than the one I got at the hospital . . . I don't know how it compares to the drugstore kind or the ones sold here, but it's pretty thick and very elastic (took two people to refasten it in the hospital, but now after a couple weeks of practice I can do it myself) and VERY comfortable! I'm 2 weeks post-op tomorrow and still wearing it almost all the time.

Oh, and I would definitely go for the medium -- like you said, there will be swelling to deal with!

Best wishes!

Re: Binders?

Where are you supposed to measure? Your true waist above the belly button? Does hip measurement matter? I've been trying to figure out which one to get too.
Thanks!

Re: Binders?

I was told to measure about where the incisions will be. My Dr says they will not be supplying me with one but he definitely recommends me having one.

I wonder if you received the one from Hysteriasisters store yet?
I am considering ordering it but since I live in HI they want $12.95 shipping making it pretty pricey. My Doc is off island and so I don't know if he approves of using one or not. So I am checking with them to see what their return policy is if not used.

Re: Binders?

I found belly bandits on eBay. Prices were little better and many new ones to choose from.

Re: Binders?

After doing some internet research, I went with the Belly Bandit Couture. It was suppose to be a bit more comfortable than the original model
