using a voice recorder

i just bought a voice recorder for class lectures... and it just occurred to me to actually have this with me before & after surgery!

you know you're gonna be drugged up and doctors are talking to you and you *THINK* you're gonna remember everything?? nah....didn't think so.

and i know i certainly can't expect for my mom (who isn't too fluent in english) to relay the info for me!

anyway...just thought i'd bring this up for those who has a voice recorder, to have it & use it.

Re: using a voice recorder

I used mine on my tablet for my appt with my uro/gynecologist the day we ended up scheduling surgery. I figured I'd let my husband listen to it since he couldn't be with me at my appt. I haven't yet, but its nice to know i have the whole discussion taped. I may or may not use it after surgery. I think between my DH and my mom, they'll be able to remember everything she says if i can't.

Re: using a voice recorder

I was thinking of doing the same thing, also. Will docs let you do that? DO you have to ask. My last gyn had told me three diffrent things post op from my lapo and it made my husband think I was changing stories. And just caused a lot. So also so gyn cannot keep changing her mind

Re: using a voice recorder

That's a wonderful idea!! As far as if you have to ask or not, it wouldn't hurt to let them know you want to tape the conversation so you remember what was said, just as a courtesy. If for some reason they won't let you tape it, ask for a written summary of what was discussed so you have something concrete to fall back on.

Best wishes!!
