Re: I thought I was supposed to be emotional AFTER surgery.

My surgery is also Oct 4, so I, too, will be praying for you. As far as emotions go, I am happy about getting a hysterctomy and looking forward to it as a way to really start feeling better and being healthy. Then, today at my pre-op appt, the nurse was going over paperwork with me and I just started crying. It felt like it came out of no where, but then again, I hadn't really discussed it in detail with anyone else besides my dr. I think when your friends and family sees what you are going thru, they will realize that you need help.

Re: I thought I was supposed to be emotional AFTER surgery.

I was wondering how everything went for you on Tuesday. My surgery went twice as long as expected because I don't think my gyn believed how bad it was because he couldn't feel it. They were able to save my right ovary but barely. I got out of the hospital Wednesday at 10:30 am. I feeling much better than I anticipated. I hope yours went as smoothly or better.

Re: I thought I was supposed to be emotional AFTER surgery.

I am grateful for all the support. My surgery took twice as long as expected. But my hospital recovery was very quick. I walked to my room from the PACU. I was released the nest day at 10:30 am. The pain hasn't been near what I anticipated and I am happy it is over. Looking forward to reading while I recover. Thanks again.

Re: I thought I was supposed to be emotional AFTER surgery.

My girl Angie,
I had my surgery 4 wks ago. My Husband elected to leave in June, said he couldn't step up. It hasn't been easy, but for me, knowing my body was going to feel better, and using this as my gateway to self reliance in some ways, was an important emotional reminder of how resourceful and solid we are. You still need support at times, and crying is ok!! This is life changing. Know you have ladies who understand. Even when those around you seem so dang ignorant. I'm using this time to make lifestyle changes and find some new friends..;-) Stacy

Re: I thought I was supposed to be emotional AFTER surgery.

P.S. Angie,
I hope your surgery went well, be careful when you feel good cuz those pain pills will trick you into thinking you're all good. 4 weeks yesterday was my surg. Yesterday was so painful, tingling, muscle spasms, all over achiness, fatigue. I pushed myself too hard. We all need to spread the news of how serious this surgery is, and how traumatic to the body it is!! Hormone issues to boot!

Re: I thought I was supposed to be emotional AFTER surgery.

Just an update. Tomorrow is 2 weeks post op and I am feeling really good. Which is a good thing because my family never stepped up to help. My DH has been wonderful but he can only do so much. I didn't take pain pills past day 2. I guess my biggest complaint is how very easily I get tired. But i do what I can and if I have to take a nap then that is ok too. Thanks for the encouragement and prayers.
