Still have some questions a doc can't answer

I had my consult today and am waiting for them to call and schedule my surgery and pre-op. I just wanted to ask a question for all you ladies that had a total, or complete not really sure what to call it, hysterectomy and had your cervix removed. Did it effect your ability to be intimate after it was gone?

Re: Still have some questions a doc can't answer

This is how my dr explained it last week to me.. If I have ovaries, uterus, and cervix removed I have a very high chance of losing all sexual desire. If I keep my ovaries I will have self lubracation and due to the hormones from the ovaries the desire will stay the same, only thing is with cervix removed it can weaken your orgasms or make it harder to have one. He said with just removing the uterus everything "should" remain the same in the sexual department. Now he said depending on each person's medical condition is what determines on what each person needs to have removed or keep.. I am only keeping my ovaries. So I am trying to stay positive as my husband and I have only been married one year and I am 25 yrs old and really don't want anything to change with my sex life.

Re: Still have some questions a doc can't answer

I had both ovaries and cervix removed and I can honestly say that I never lost my desire to have sex. I was nervous about getting back into it after going through this surgery, but the desire was still there. I have no problems with self-lubrication either...everything still works. And as far as the orgasms are concerned, I know everyone is different, but mine are more intense, they come easier than ever before, and I have multiple every time we are intimate.

I am not saying this is the norm by any means, I don't know.
I know a lot of sisters tell you to stay away from the post-op forum so you don't get scared, but there is a great forum over there called "Post-Op sex, Yay" might want to read that to put your mind at ease.
