Worried I won't feel like "me" after

I always expected to ease into menopause and all it's changes, but now I'm having a TAH on 10/8. I'm worried that I won't feel like myself anymore. Not talking about the healing, but with sudden menopause, it seems like there will be a new "normal" me. Does that make sense to anyone?

I worried about the same thing! I had my surgery on 9/21/11. I woke up thinking I feel the same only better!. I am so happy about how I feel and you will be too knowing that the worst part is over. Hang in there. You will be fine.

Re: Worried I won't feel like "me" after

Pandalover9: Had the same worry. Had surgery in July - almost 12 weeks ago. The only time I was not myself was when I was reading horror stories about life after the removal of ovaries and surgical menopause. I went into panic mode and thought that I would be "afflicted" with everything I was reading. Eventually I stopped reading, took some distance, re-connected with ME and returned to my sane state - as sane as that can every be

I feel great now - an "enhanced" version of myself. My surgery came due to a cancer diagnosis and the process has led me to look my life, my priorities, my choices ... what's important to me. I am still me but choosing to live a more meaningful life. So maybe a "new normal" can also be BETTER normal? For me, right now, it is enhanced - emotionally and spiritually speaking.
