Abdominal Binder?

Good Afternoon! Just a question about abdominal binders. After my surgery will the hospital provide a abdominal binder, or do I need to bring my own to the hospital? I'm making my list of things to get--I'm 2 weeks out from my surgery.

Re: Abdominal Binder?

I would ask your dr.'s office. I had a Davinci on 8/15 and my doctor said I would not need one (and I really didn't). I know though some hospitals do provide them. I think it really varies.

Re: Abdominal Binder?

Hi Teri,

You will need to take your own binder. I truly wish I had used one. Hugs and prayers for your successful journey.

Re: Abdominal Binder?

I had davinci and my doctor ordered one for me. They put it on in recovery. I'd ask your doc about it at pre op. I loved mine, wore it almost nonstop for the first 2 weeks.

Re: Abdominal Binder?

Every facility is different. The hospital where I had mine provides abdominal binders to all of their post-abdominal-surgery (including hysto) patients. They put it on in the OR when they're done with surgery.

I loved mine as well . . . am just a day over 2 weeks post-op and still wearing it. It was a lifesaver that first week!

Re: Abdominal Binder?

I loved mine. I ordered it on this site. My hospital did not provide one for me. I wore it most of the time during my 6 week recovery. I even wore it some after I went back to work. I think it depends on what kind of surgery you are having. I had an abdominal cut, so it helped support my belly in the healing process.

Re: Abdominal Binder?

I absolutely love my binder. It isn't the one from HysterSisters - by the time I found this fabulous site there wasn't enough time before my surgery to get it here (I'm in Australia.) I found something very similar in the maternity section of a department store here - and it works a treat. I have been wearing it everyday and it supports my swelly belly and makes me feel a lot more comfortable. Definitely get one!

Re: Abdominal Binder?

It does not seem like it took long, but I got mine months ago. My surgery was in February.
