Re: Bowel Prep hint

I am curious to how long prior to surgery they have us start the prep.

Re: Bowel Prep hint

For my daughter they started the prep the morning of the day before. She had to drink a certain amount of the mix within a specific period of time. It was within an hour or two of doing the prep that she started needing to go to the bathroom.

Like I said, this is from her experience, she had surgery on her bowel and bladder so it could be different and the adult version could be different too.

Be sure to check with your doctor. Doing any type of bowel prep without your doctor's knowledge could cause your surgery to be postponed.

It's my guess you will be in the middle of your prep....I would call and ask them about it.

Re: Bowel Prep hint

Just an update, I had my surgery on Friday, got home this morning. I am still sore and I am having a hard time getting comfortable, but overall I am very pleased and surprised at how well everything is going so far.

Re: Bowel Prep hint

Thanks for sharing Atlast11. I, too, have to do prep for surgery. WILL surely get the flushable wipes and a cream for the bottom end. Would be embarrassing to go into surgery with a raw bottom!! Good luck on your surgery.

Re: Bowel Prep hint

Only tip I have is to not stress about it too bad. It wasnt NEARLY as bad as I thought it would be, pain is not unbearable and you will be getting some much needed rest.
