Re: Bowel Prep hint

I started my prep around 1:00 PM the day before surgery and by 10:00PM that night I was cleaned out! Sore but would not stray too far away from the bathroom.

Re: Bowel Prep hint

I did just what I mentioned above and the doctor said my colon prep was excellent! He did not even know that I went this route instead. I have colon problems and get a colonoscopy every year. I have kept a journal of what works and what does not. Regardless of the prep I used, I always HAD to take several warm water enemas to get a good clean out. Nothing they sell out there to drink is going to help me like a warm water enema and dulcolox.

Happy cleaning ladies :-)

Re: Bowel Prep hint

It's not bad really (warm water enemas). With all due respect to doctors, if I listen to them all the time, I'd be up a creek without a paddle. Just sayin'. They don't know my body like I do. They depends on tests, on whatever suggested options are out there, and basically, been my experience, common sense was lost somewhere in medical school.

Rant over. On to getting past this colonoscopy and bad anesthesia so I can be ready for the 28th (Dulcolox night before, and enemas). I'll be as clean as a whistle, LOL

The test is not bad. That bottled crap they tell you to drink is though. I gagged and choked one time. It was so bad, we had to cancel the test. I have been having a colonoscopy since 1988, every year! Trust me. I am a pro at bowel prep, and a pro when it comes to what works, and what does not! There is not a specialist out there who could tell me about my body. They're just there to do what I can't do myself :-)

Re: Bowel Prep hint

Bowel prep works differently with everyone from what I am hearing. I have been given a sheet of instructions to take Ducalox and PegLyte. I have been doing some research on it, and learned that there is something called Picosalax, which is in Canada and is much gentler, and not as nasty as the other(not that any of it is great). I am going to question my doctor as to why they are still recommending Peglyte when there is a 'friendlier' version on the market. I am hopeful I can convince him to allow me the Picosalax. I have a weak stomach and poor gag reflex, so very concerned about not being cleaned out and having my surgery postphoned. GOOD LUCK to all those who are going to the 'castle' soon. MY date is Nov 15. I am already stressing!!!!
