Surgery Nov 3rd and Nervous--need to make a decision about ovary

Found out on Sept 26th that I would have to have Hysterectomy. I have 2 large fibriods and a Dermiod in my left ovary. Thinking of leaving right ovary but have heard conflicting stories of my choice to leave ovary.

Everyone I know has told me not to keep my ovaries. I'm keeping them anyway. My doctor has given me the green light, and that means more to me than my mom, my friends, and anybody else. I want my own hormones, if at all possible.

This is a discussion you should have with your doctor. Whether or not to keep your ovaries can be based on numerous items, such as family and personal health history, ovary health, your age, and much, much more.

I was in a similar situation as you - the right ovary had to go but what about the left? After discussing all the options with my doctor, I decided to keep my left ovary and "see how it goes" rather than going straight into surgical menopause. No complaints from me yet!

Thanks Ive told my doctor i wanted to keep my Right Ovary and see how it goes. Hoping it can produce enough hormones. Just nervous about whole surgery and trying mentally to prepare

Yeah ive talke to Doctor and keeping right ovary she is ok with that just have talked to friends who have had on or know someone and conflicitng stories. Think im going to stick with decision to keep ovary
