I am finally at peace with my decision

I am four days away form the big day and I cant wait to get this done and move on with my life.

Until today I was unsure if I was making the right choice to have a hysterectomy. I thought about putting it off for a while or even just canceling it all together.

But this morning I woke up, and to my surprise, I started my period. Now this shouldnt be a big deal.....except for the fact that I just got off my last period a week ago!! I am so sick of having 2 very heavy and unpredictable periods a month!!!

I was going to go camping with the family this weekend but now I dont think I can go because of the heavy bleeding.

Thank you God, for putting my mind at ease and showing me a sign!! I have no doubt that I am making the right choice to have this surgery.

We're having the same thing, around the same time (10/7) and we're both at peace....

Re: I am finally at peace with my decision

So glad to hear you're at peace with your decision. That is so important.

My period started the morning of my surgery, even though I'd just finished the last one about ten days earlier. Talk about a sign!

Re: I am finally at peace with my decision

I feel at peace at my decision. The fibroids have been around for a few years. I would talk about it with my gynecologist and walk out holding a "Facing a Hysterectomy pamphlet and drive home in tears. Now I feel like I just want to feel good again. My date is set for Oct. 25. I talked to the nurse today and she said that the doctor will be doing the surgery, but a nurse practicer will be assisting with the Da Vinci. That makes me a little nervous not knowing who is working on me.

Re: I am finally at peace with my decision

I'm there, too I made the decision Aug 31 to have the hysterectomy and chose the date Oct7th. After I made the decision, I went through doubt, fear, depression, grief ?..all sorts of emotions. Finally a few days ago I surrendered to my decision. I am totally at peace with this. And today I was blessed with a visit from a dear friend I haven't seen in 3 years. Come to find out she had a hysterectomy by the same doctor a few years back. Talking with her just supported by decision. Bring it on Oct 7th! I'm ready!

I am finally at peace with my decision

I so know how you feel. I was also very upset about having a hystetectomy as I don't have kids. I have very heavy bleeding and fibroids. Wondered if it was the best thing to do and what if.... But as I type this I am in pain and bleeding heavily My consultant has put me on high dosages of Provera to ease bleeding before my operation which is the 27 th Oct. Wish it would work these meds! And I too want my life back- this is not living!!! Wishing you the best for your operation soon and a speedy recovery and perhaps freedom!
