Newbie and trying to find my way

And I'm feeling lost. Went to the doctor yesterday and we set the date ,Oct. 14th. I want the pain and the blod clots to stop so I feel this is the best way to go,plus I have 4 fibroids(2 large and 2 small) and a enlarged uterus. After talking to my friend I realized that I have so many questions and no answers about the procedure. My Pre-op is on the 10th is this the way it goes: set the appointment then the Pre-op to tell you what's going on? This is really making me crazy can't think about anything else so my friend suggested I join hystersisters cause she said it helped her a lot. Looking forward to answers and new friends with the same issues.

Re: Newbie and trying to find my way

The pre-op appt is good for asking any questions you have about what to expect during and after surgery. I asked about pain control and what to expect physically (how much to walk, what restrictions I would have, etc). My surgeon wanted to do an exam just to get an idea what she could expect when she went in there. I really wasn't a big deal.

Re: Newbie and trying to find my way

Welcome to Hystersisters. You've come to the right place! I suggest making a list of questions for your pre-op appointment and asking the same questions again to your surgeon. This is a big decision and you need to have all the facts and be prepared with what to expect. Explore this site, There is lots of info including what you should ask your Dr, what to take to the hospital and what is helpful to have set up at home when you return from the hospital. Post all your questions here, there are scores of amazing women who understand and are happy to listen and help. I wish you the best :-)

Re: Newbie and trying to find my way

Also the Hystersisters book has a lot of great information and checklists etc. I received mine last week and checked off quite a few things to ask the Doc on Wed. And I have been using the hospital checklist to gather my goodies and back my bag.
