Re: Enema questions..sorry so gross
I am not a fan of the enema but it does work fast and doesn't make you go for hours on end. But it's something I didn't like, just did it and got it out of the way. It wasn't as bad as the whole idea of it, IMO.
The mag citrate has less taste if it's chilled. Try chugging it then drinking a juice or broth chaser. Good luck with the bowel preps, ladies.

Re: Enema questions..sorry so gross
Yes, like someone said, every bowel prep is different. I didn't have to do the liquid diet, just the one enema the night before and another one the morning of surgery.
I've never had Mag Citrate but I have heard that it goes down better chilled. Also heard that drinking equal parts mag and ice water helps. Someone on here not that long ago said that Target makes a mag citrate that does not taste too horrible, lol.
Also, the citrate in the mag citrate burns a lot when it comes back out . . . that's why they recommend getting wet wipes and also using A&D or some other kind of zinc ointment for your bottom. Didn't get that with enemas, though.

Re: Enema questions..sorry so gross
I have to do the Mag Citrate at 4pm the day before my surgery and then if I'm not cleared out, an enema the morning of. My doctor said this really helps with the gas pains after surgery since there will be no food in you to still digest. I have never done an enema either. I have had Mag Citrate though and did chill it.

Re: Enema questions..sorry so gross
Mag citrate is disgusting!! I could barely get mine down without throwing up. I read on here after the fact that it isnt as bad if you mix it with apple juice- I dont know if you ladies are allowed to do that but if you can I would recommend as it really is nasty stuff. BTW, I got the cherry flavor thinking it might be better than the one i previously tried-citrus- it definitely was way worse! Good luck to all of you-

Yes, it tastes better cold. Having it chilled it is so much better than just over ice. I just did over ice and wished I chilled it too. I wasn't thinking. First sips weren't bad, but by the end of the drink I was ready to be done.
