seen Dr today and got good news...sort of.

Hi all...I went back to the dr today to get the results of all my test. Uterus enlarged(no surprise) and a 11 cm fibroid. I have has both for two years I just have been trying to put it off. She said I was very anemic and I am on 2 iron pills a day. I knew I was facing a hyster. I just thought it wouldn't hurt to wait. I am just so miserable. I can't remember a day I got out of bed feeling good. This summer I have givin up doing so many things with my friends because I just didn't have the energy. The hubby bought me a brand new Harley for my Bday last year and its sadly just sits in the garage. Anyway she said now is the time. That the quality of my life has just went downhill. So I have to go on Wed for a biopsy of the lining of my uterus. She put me on Preva for heavy bleeding and said she was gonna schedule my surgery as soon as possible. She is taking out just my uterus leaving my ovaries and cervix and drumroll please...she is doing it TLH. I didn't think she could do it that way because of the size of my fibroid. I am hoping this plan works!!! Anyway I am so excited, I am tired of the back ache and the leaking and the bleeding and the heaviness in my uterus...and my hair falling out!!!!

Dr. is leaving my cervix and ovaries...I didn't put it in pre op because I thought you had to have a date and I know its in the next 2 weeks just dont have a definitive date yet....sorry...

Once you have the surgery, you'll wonder why you put it off. Recovery has its ups and downs, but remember to accept all the assistance that you are offered and allow others to pamper you. The recovery time (while difficult for a lot of us) is NOT your time to play superwoman! You only have one chance to heal and recover the right way. Take the time to make YOU and your health top priority. It will be worth it and you will benefit in the end.

Best wishes to you!

Only thing I can't figure out is although I am super glad she is doing it SLH and she said my uterus is really large with a 11 cm fibroid how do they get it out of little holes? I know the recovery is suppose to be a lot shorter with Lap but do they cut it up? I don't want to sound silly but I would love to know....

Yes, from what I know, they do dissect what they need to in order to remove the organs.
