Well, emotionall and freaking out now that I got stuck taken care of
Ok so ready just about for Monday. i just found out my mom in law said my four year old can stay at her house as long as he needs. She will be stopping by for lunch and dinner.
I had originally planned on her just taking him sunday and monday night. Now I am even more sad that he may be away from me longer. I know I shoudl be appreciative, and I am. I just don't wana be away from my son that long. Even though he is excited, He has two cousins there to play with.
Am I being over emotional? SHouldnt' I let her take him off hands for first week? I mean I will see him every day. But I am just well...don't ever wana be away from him. He is gone all summer, with his dad and I just got him back two weeks ago. And if I am ready and when she is more then happy to give him back. Iam just freakin out. LOL> d

The only time I've been away from mine is when I was in the hospital having the next one! LOL So, I totally know how you feel! I have 5 kids and my mom offered to take them when I had my hysterectomy but I declined. I didn't want to ship them off...LOL
I think your emotions are completely normal

I say play it by ear. Have her keep him the first night for sure and then if you are up for it and don't feel groggy and like you need to sleep, take him back the next day!

I feel exactly the same way. My son is 2 and I'm freaking out about not being able to take care of him myself. I have more a problem with that than the pain and healing part. I love holding him, carrying him and having him sit on my lap. I'm glad people are offering to help because logically I know I'll need the help, but it makes me sad.

Re: Well, emotionall and freaking out now that I got stuck taken care of
I didn't see my kids the day of surgery and they stayed at home that night with daddy. I missed them very much. The plan was that I would come home the next day and they would come home from school and I'd already be here. When they got home they freaked out and started crying when they saw me. They are 5 and 7 and I really didn't expect it. Looking back with my kids I think It would have been better for them to be there a little more so they wouldn't have had the freak out.... kind of see that mom was ok. As soon as they saw I was ok, then they were ok.
Your results may very but it's cool to feel that way. I hate being away from my kids. Although the night of surgery I was so wacked out you could have brought in a monkey to see me and I would have believed it was my mom.

Well, my "little one" is not so little anymore but I do understand how you feel. I dont think I've ever been away from her for more than a week until she went away to college. I would say play it by ear. Listen to your body. You'll know what you can and can't handle. Good luck to you! Tomorrow is my big day too!

Aren't MIL great!!! I can understand your sadness but you need to take time to get yourself better. Don't rush it so you need to be away from your child even longer because you had a setback. They are with someone that loves them and Grandmas love to spoil them so. Old saying is grandchildren get away with more than the kids did it so very true!!! My MIL passed away from a stroke Christmas Day will be 4 years ago and I so miss her when I am sick. Funny how the little girl in you pops out sometimes...LOL..good luck with your surgery....

Re: Well, emotionall and freaking out now that I got stuck taken care of
Of course you're sad about having to be away from your son. It doesn't help that our emotions are all whacked out right now! I say let him stay with grandma. You're not going to be much company or feel like playing and it'll be a treat for him to get to play with his cousins. And if when he comes over for lunch he really wants to stay with you, you can always change your mind. Take the time to yourself to really heal and you'll be feeling great sooner than if you push yourself too much taking care of him right away.
