LSH Pre-Op Advice

I am having a LSH and was wondering if anyone on here has any advice that's had one? I've had my Uterine Biopsy and it was negative (thankfully), my doctor performed an ultrasound and said that there are no fibroids, etc... I had stage I Endometriosis five years ago that has been removed along with dense adhesions when I had a laparoscopy for an ectopic pregnancy removal. He said he will take care of any new endo or adhesions when he's in there in the event that it's returned. I also had a c-section in 2007 for twins. I am nervous, despite my previous two surgeries about this one because although it's not elective, I feel like it's my choice and therefore elective. My doc says that he performs 5 to 6 LSH's a month and that the size of clots I occassionally produce "Is not okay and is not normal" they are only about the size of a silver dollar to as small as a dime. Yet he says it's no good, despite my thinking that the occassional clots were normal. My periods are very painful and having more children is not an option for me. I'm almost 31 years old and just scared to leave my Husband and Children should something happen to me. I'm trying to get all of my Ducks in a Row way beforehand so that I don't feel stressed or any more anxious than need be. Any pre-op advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!

Re: LSH Pre-Op Advice

I'm really pressed for time right now and will try to respond more soon! But, I wanted to say that yes, I had an LSH and I am doing fabulous right now. A quick read of your story, when is your surgery? And, have you ever had a second opinion. A hysterectomy is major surgery and is something you want to have as much info as you can (which is probably why you're here) before hand...I'll post more soon!

Re: LSH Pre-Op Advice

I am so sorry you are dealing with this. I know surgery is scary, and this one in particular. Having a hysterectomy is major surgery, and the recovery form it is quite long. Second opinions are always good - you may want to find out what another doctor would say about your condition.

Getting things organized can be helpful to calm nerves, if you choose to go the surgery route. I tried to get dinners in the freezer, the house cleaned and organized, etc. I also made sure I had loose shorts and sweats to wear afterward.

Good luck to you.
