Scheduled for LSH on Oct 24

I originally went in for a nova sure procedure....came out scheduled for a LSH on Oct 24. I'm actually excited.

We are keeping our fingers crossed that laprascopic will work out....I had a sigmoidectomy last year and ended up with a surgical infection, had to go back in and open the wound, and let the wound heal with wet to dry dressings.

Needless to say, I ended up with a nasty scar and lots of internal surgical adhesions....more than likely that fused to my uterus. Thats why I wasn't a candidate for novasure. Plus it's highly suspected I have adenomyosis. Lol.

She wanted to do my surgery this Monday as she's concerned about the surgical adhesions. But we scheduled for Oct 24.

As I'm a pro with bowel preps and abdominal surgeries....my main concern is pain medications. Ugh.

I can not take morphine, darvocet, vicodin, lortab, norco....I can do dilaudid in the Pain pump.

Buts whats the best pain medication that does NOT cause nausea and vomiting?

Thank you!!!!

Re: Scheduled for LSH on Oct 24

My hairdresser had a LSH, and she had the doc prescribe an anti nausea medicine with the pain meds, as she has a similar situation. She had very little pain, and only needed pain meds for a couple days, but she said the anti nausea meds worked very well until she could step down to OTC pain meds. Good luck.

Let your doctor know about how you react to the various narcotics. They should be able to prescribe something that will work for you.

Everyone is different regarding pain, some need narcotics and some don't. It is also surgery dependent.

Good luck to you..
