Off to Castle Tommarow- will i shower, ovarie decision
Off to castle tommarow at 645 am. I am still trying to get house stuff ready as every one in family home for weekend and hard to keep things clean. I am a clean freak and have a hard time if just one thing out of place.
taking kids to places after dinner.
Still do not have bag packed for hospital. I am gonna try to bring least possible.
Does anyone know If I will shower at hospital after surgery? I am only staying one night? Will I be up and brushing teeth?
I decided to keep ovaries as well. Too much heart disease in family.

You probably won't have a shower in the hospital. It seems that women generally stay in hospital for one or two nights. I took my toothbrush and used it when I woke up on the second morning of my stay. Hope this helps, I wish you the best.

Re: Off to Castle Tommarow- will i shower, ovarie decision
My surgery instructions were to shower the night before and morning of with Hibiclens. Doubt if you'll be showering at the hospital. I was told to pack light. Packed a tootbrush and a few toiletries in case I have to stay longer than one night. As a fellow clean freak, I had to let some things go. Bowel prep today left me weak & I am just too pooped to care. Those dust bunnies will be there. Try to get some rest & good luck to you for a successful surgery!!!

Re: Off to Castle Tommarow- will i shower, ovarie decision
I packed an overnight bag with a nightgown, slippers, underwear, pads, toiletries etc. I didn't get to use any of them. I stayed in the castle for 2 days. They made me wear their lovely hospital gown, supplied all the pads and even gave me underwear. Plus a toothbrush, toothpaste, body wash and lotion. So honestly depending on the hospital you really don't need much. The only thing that came out of my bag was my clothes to come home in. Hope this helps and best wishes!

Re: Off to Castle Tommarow- will i shower, ovarie decision
Hi there, my surgery is Wednesday at noon (yuck) and I was told by my doctor I'd be there 2-4 nights. I'm having an LAVH/BSO and I am like you in not knowing what to pack! The hospital dud suggest I don't pack jammies because the hospital gown is easier fir them to work with. But I am bringing my super plush robe and my favorite slippers. Then I think I'm just bringing a small bag of toiletries, my phone/iPod, and some hair ties. I'd hate to lose anything either! I also have to shower the night before and morning of with Hibicleanse. The worst part for me is waiting until noon, oy!!! Good luck and sending healing prayers out to all of the sisters!

Something to keep in mind as you pack: even if the doc has told you that you'll only be in hospital for one day, your visit could easily be longer. I was expecting one night and ended up staying for two. Nightgowns aren't necessary. The only things I used from home were: chapstick, fluffy socks (my feet get cold), my toothbrush and iPhone. And my clothes to wear home. Everything else I brought I didn't use. The one thing I wish I had taken to the hospital was my heating pad. Best of luck with your surgeries.
