Good Luck tomorrow! I'm following in your footsteps Friday and I'm already a ball of nerves! We've all been told the waiting is the worst part, but that doesn't keep us from freaking out. It's a big deal and you have every right to be nervous! Take care. I'm sure everything will be fine!

lots of luck to you, too!!!!!!!!!!! Hugz!

yeah - i didn't believe it about the waiting part. i started out thinking - no big deal. yeah right! i've been a wreck for the past 5 days! today's actually not as bad, probably becuz i have SO MUCH to do at work to keep me busy. but still..........i'm more worried about the anesthesia, bc i had a bad reaction to being intubated yrs ago. but i don't want an epi, either. have had 2 for births, and hated them. ugh!

i wish you the bestest of luck! we'll meet again on the other side! =)

Re: tomorrow's my big day finally!

You're lucky you have work to keep you occupied! I'm a full time student but had to drop my classes this semester because the pain is too much. So I have way too much time to obsess about surgery and recovery! I'm nervous about the anesthesia too but I think I'm getting a spinal with sedation. I like the idea of that because first, they always pinch the side of my lip when they tape the tube down and I have a fat lip for days afterwards! Second, I hear its easier to "wake up" when you have the spinal with sedation. Thirdly, the pain should be minimal until the spinal wears off. There's a difference between an epidural and a spinal block. I know you said you've had bad experiences with epidurals, but maybe you should consider the spinal? Just a thought. I look forward to hearing your story when you feel up to it!

Re: tomorrow's my big day finally!

actually - i found out that it most likely wasn't the intubation at all that was the problem. i seem to have a reaction to latex, and the pre-registration lady i just talked to, said they probably used latex gloves, and their fingers would've been in my mouth, etc, at that time, doing the intubation, and i had the reaction from that. totally makes sense! she said they don't use latex gloves in hospitals anymore. so i should be all set.

other than that, i didn't really have a problem with being intubated. i was intubated for knee surgery several yrs later, and had no problems at all. so i'm not too worried about it.

i kow what you mean about the epi, though. and i agree with you. i just don't want it myself. i'm a big baby. LOL i ended up getting both the epi & the spinal for my last c-section. it was only 2 yrs after the first, and the epi just wouldn't take. so they had to give the spinal, after they almost cut me, thinking it finally took, and it wore off as they started cutting! it was awful. so i'd rather not. but i've heard other women say they loved going that route. i hope it's a great experience for you!
