The date has been set...

I got a phone call from my doctor's office today...I am set for Oct 28th (TAH) with a pre-op for Oct 26th. Just a little freaked out, cause this phone call just made it more real.

Re: The date has been set...

I know what you mean. My surgery date is Nov. 7th and I am going to try and get my pre-opt testing done that same day since his office is near the hospita wherel I will have my surgery. Iam calm, but like you having mixed emotions. But we will get through this.

Re: The date has been set...

You have four weeks to prepare!
Remember surgery is the breeze, given you are asleep. Just trust your surgeon and be brave, let them take control.
recovery is the hard part and the more reading you do the better prepared you are to do the right things, be kind to yourself and take the right time to recover. Best wishes

Re: The date has been set...

I went in Aug 17th and decided 3 days later. I went thru sadness, depression, embarrassment, etc. This site really helped me realize all my emotions were totally normal and that I wasn't alone. THis is the place to be. Here you will get so much support, understanding and helpful hints to manage, the journey. My preop is on Wed and surgery is friday. I have gone from freaked out and depressed to ready to get thru and start healing.

It's a big deal and it takes time to take it all in and accept it.

My mind raced in the last week and I was nervous, so kept busy.

Re: The date has been set...

My date is also set ~ 1 month from today. I feel a little like an island w/this, so I am thankful for this site.
I am trying to view October as a month to prepare in all aspects ~ Mind, body and spirit. I am not alone at all, but I feel that way for some reason with this chapter of my life. Looking forward to healing and a new beginning!

Re: The date has been set...

Thanks ladies for all your kind words and prayers. I have been trying to keep busy and focus on the positive. I think my biggest fear is the recovery period. Back in 2000 when I went to the same hospital I will be having this surgery they never changed my bed linen and I developed and terrible infection. So I am a little afraid this will happen again. I am holding onto my faith, but allowing that small bit of doubt raise it head ever now and than. But I am so ready to get on with my life. It has been a rough year. Best wishes to each you and God Bless.
