Bowel Prep

I have read as much as I can regarding Bowel Prep and why it is required by most doctors. A clean bowel, if nicked during surgery, will be less likely to cause infection. AS much as it sucks to have to do it, I remind myself that it is in my own best interest to do so. AS I am sitting on the throne on my day of 'prep' I will likely curse my Dr. Good luck to all my 'sisters' who are in the pre op stage. ITS no FUN WAITING.

Re: Bowel Prep

Bowel prep (which I did 2 weeks ago) was not nearly as bad as prep for colonoscopy. Suggestion: Just make sure that one bathroom in your home is reserved just for you....and drink as much water as you can. And then drink some more.

Re: Bowel Prep

I didn't have a bowel prep and fortunately, had no problems. It isn't required by all doctors but the important thing to remember is to do exactly as instructed by your doctor. If you're told to do one, do it and if not, don't. Doing one without your doctor's knowledge could cause dehydration and cause surgery to be cancelled.

Best wishes! I hope the waiting isn't too bad for you! We're always here to help you prepare and keep you company!
