Jogging with enlarged uterus/fibroid..

Question for any of the ladies who jog. Have you been told that jogging/running is not a good idea when you have a very large fibroid?

My uterus is very enlarged just up past my belly button, and the fibroid within it is taking up all of that space.

Would jogging cause undue stress on ligaments ? I'm an avid walker and have in the past 2 months started to jog during those walks.

My surg. date is Nov.10th for a TAH and I'm trying to keep my ovaries.

Any input would be appreciated!!

Thanks my hystersisters!!!

Re: Jogging with enlarged uterus/fibroid..

This is probably a question for your doctor. You want to make sure in your case you are not damaging your ligaments.

Good luck.

Re: Jogging with enlarged uterus/fibroid..

thank you marestail

I see her on the 16th and will ask - strangely I think my uterus is starting to talk to me and instinctively I've decided to calm things down. Do you think it knows it's days are numbered? LOL

Hugs back and thanks for your reply ......

Take good care~

Re: Jogging with enlarged uterus/fibroid..

Cottagegurl - just wanted to share my experience. I took up distance running, was building up to a half marathon. Long story short, I only ever made about half that distance because my right leg would start killing me - my enlarged uterus is setting on my sciatic nerve. The extra exertion was causing issues for me. I haven't run since August. I am hoping that once that weight and pressure is gone, I'll be able to see some progress in my running. Til then, I'm limiting myself in distance. We don't know if I have fibroids - they haven't shown on u/s, but in my laparoscopy my uterus was so huge that the dr expects to see fibroids when she goes in for the hysterectomy - but we do know it's enlarged, has pelvic congestion, and suspected adenomyosis. Let me know what your dr has to say!

Re: Jogging with enlarged uterus/fibroid..

I had a very large fibroid and there was no way that I could jog without my bladder giving out on me. It was all I could do to be able to walk for a half hour without finding a bathroom or a bush. I am totally shocked that you can run! The lady that recommended you ask your doctor is right on track. Let us know what you find out.

Re: Jogging with enlarged uterus/fibroid..

Thanks Danni for your reply. I'm just sticking to hiking now to keep healthy. But I am going to ask my doctor and then post her view on the 'jogging with a large fibroid/enlarged uterus'

Information to send along to another sister who may wonder as well

Hugs,

Cottagegurl
