LAVH: scared

I was diagnosed w/ cystocele, rectocele 5 yrs ago and I'm finally scheduled for surgery in December. I put it off so many times. After reading what you ladies are going thru I am having second thoughts. My symptoms: bladder bulging out thru vagina. Not painful, but noticable esp when standing or doing manual work. I have been getting a few UTI's, vaginosis in the last couple years. I feel fine otherwise and think that maybe I don't need this surgery! My doctor says I should do it now b/c I'm 57 and shouldn't wait till I'm older (slower healing?). It just seems like a lot of suffering to go through when I'm feeling absolutely fine! Anyone have any input for me?

OMG I finally found someoe just like me. I too have cystocele and rectocele,and found my uterus has prolapsed as well, I am in no pain what's so ever, but it is a pain in the but (pun intended) I have a hard time going from both ends, I do feel pressure and bloated. I'm 51 and in good shape but noticed I'm slowing down because I was told after doc exam by my gyno and surgeon not to lift anything heavy, my surgery is Nov 28th I am having my uterus removed and repairs made for cystoceles, never had survey before and I'm sooo scared, my kids are all adults, 25,23 and 19 so I'll have lots of help, my DH is already taking over my house chores, I dont like that though I'm not out yet, he won't let me do anything. Got to love him. You don't want to wait because age is a factor I heal fast so I'm glad to get this going but I know come Nov I'm going lose it, please keep in touch with me I haven't found another sister with the same as me , thanks Cat

Even though I had complications during my surgery due to the amount of endometriosis, and a second hospital stay due to a horrible UTI, and a slow healing recovery. My hot flashes were extreme, but that has changed after adjusting the meds. I would not change having the hysterectomy for anything. Yesterday was the first time I had a pelvic exam with no pain for over 20+ years. I am 7 weeks post op and still get exhausted and out of breath, but again, I wouldn't trade the surgery even if I knew I would face the challenges. Blessings...
