Went to see the Gyn today
PCP had discussed options with me. His opinion was that since I'm done having children I should consider a hyster. My ultrasound showed several small fibroids and a couple of medium ones plus an unknown polyp. The medium ones apparently are badly located and have been causing the heavy bleeding.
Both my PCP and gyn seem to feel that D&C and then ablation may not be the best choice for me. Gyn worries that ablation won't work because of the number of fibroids that would need to be removed and the balloon thing won't be able to adhere to the uterine wall. I am done having kids.
PCP tried to do an endometrial biopsy but was unable to get the straw in. Gyn was able to so I have a followup visit to go over that.
Gyn has recommended laparoscopic leaving both my ovaries and cervix. From all of my reading this seems like a good choice.
Now the hard part, surgery isn't scheduled until December. Part of the reason is my school schedule. The other part is I have a very messed up thyroid that the endocrinologist has been working on straightening out. I was diagnosed with hypo thyroid as a kid. Now it turns out that might not be correct. So yet another medical mystery to sort out.
I am also diabetic. Any other type 2 metformin diabetics out there? I know it will slow down my healing time and probably jack my blood sugar but is there anything else I should be prepared for?
