Re: So Frightened!

I will join in on the fear factor. I am scheduled for the 4th of November. I am more afraid of the lack of understanding and help that I figure that I will not get from my boys after my mom leaves me.

I am grateful for my mom, don't get me wrong. She had an emergancy TAH when she was 41 because of a doctor giving her a staff infection. She is being very understanding and listen to me cry daily as I just feel I will not be a whole woman anymore. I am praying my sex life will come back and so does my hubby!

I stopped reading all the crap on Google since all it did was worry me even more. I am so grateful I found this group!

I hope everyone has a safe and successful surgery and recovery! I will drink a few for all of you that are going in before me!

Re: So Frightened!

Is so refreshing to know that we all feel the same and that we'll probably spend the days and weeks leading up to our surgery 'DRUNK' ! Lol :0 xxx

Re: So Frightened!

Hi christlady,

I'm a bit new here also. Just became active now with these posts since my upcoming surgery will be next month. but you'll have it first before I would. I believe you'll get support here from comforting words of the members. Check out both the pre-op and post-op. There's a pre op chat session on Oct 13, perhaps you can join in there. It can be found at the upper right corner of this page. Anyway, good luck to you.

Re: So Frightened!

Thank you so much for replying to me. I was wondering why no one replied. I will try to see if I can join you guys on the 13th. Still new to this site and trying to figure it out.

I'm curious, where you told you had to have a bowel prep? I wasn't told that I would. Trying to figure out why. ,

Re: So Frightened!

Have you had your pre op yet? They usually tell you then. I got a letter from my surgeon telling me what the prep was, three days before surgery! I knew from hystersisters that there would be one otherwise it would have caught me off guard. I suggest you call your surgeon's office.

Your are so right, we do need to pray and put this in the hands of "God." And despite my gitters I know it will be okay. Have faith, but still a little nervous.

Re: So Frightened!

Hi again Christlady,

I am not sure of the bowel prep. I will find that out on my scheduled pre-op on Oct.27. Depending on my medical history, according to the instruction list they gave me, they might order testing such as (lab, chest x-ray, EKG) etc. I guess it would be different for each person. Yorkshirelassy's suggestion is right, call and check in with your surgeon asap to find out the pre-op tests. I hope they have scheduled you for a pre-op visit.

take care

Re: So Frightened!

Hi Princesses
Yes, before surgery they will want bloods, including clotting times of blood, ekg and chest xray. Some want cat scans as well. This all gets done close to surgery, say within 6 days of surgery. The bowel prep is the day before. After surgery you will be on clear liquids again for a day or two. Hope this helps.

Re: So Frightened!

We're scheduled on the same day. Thanks for your positive post, I needed it. I'm frightened about the future.... am I going to be a crazy hormonal nut? hot flashes? weight gain? I'm divorced with 2 teenagers, are they going to help me out? I read too much post-op and it got me more nervous. I guess I just need to keep reading your positive reply over and over.
