I called to cancel the biopsy, given the fibroids go to pathology anyway once theyre removed, but she wanted me to keep the appointment anyway. Im bleeding for two weeks out of every month, and she put my appointment right smack in the middle of it!
Hi Gardenangels,
What is the biopsy of? At my first meeting with the DD, he did an endometrial biopsy. The reason he told me was to make sure that I didn't have endometrial cancer as he would not want to cut into the uterus. Since this biopsy was negative for cancer, I was able to have a laprascopic supracervical hysterectomy. As far as the bleeding goes, that doesn't matter. You can't get a PAP smear when bleeding, but you can get the biopsy.

Ask for some information about your choices. My doctor gave me a pamphlet about the different types of hysterectomies as well as information about a medication (Lupron) that we used to get my bleeding to slow down so i could build up my blood supply and to get the fibroids to shrink some. Keep asking questions until you are clear about what the DD plans to do and remember that you have the right to be informed and to choose what you want to do. Hugs....

Its an endometrial biopsy as well... maybe a standard preoperative procedeure?? Glad to know its ok to be bleeding when this is done... cause guess what I just got this morning, lol.
My hysterectomy will be done transvaginally... my ovaries are still lovely according to the ultrasound technician... I d not know about my cervix... which is one of the questions on my list.
Ive got a wonderful Doctor... I never feel rushed when Im there... but my anxiety is building more questions and concerns, and my next appointment is five days away. Im really grateful to have found this site... wonderful group of women.
In the meantime, Im going to call the doctor and tell her she'd better pack a lunch... shes going to be awhile when I get there

The pathology report showed no cancer and I don't have anymore bleeding. Yeah! Emotionally it's been quite the ride but I'm glad we it's done. Good luck with your surgery.

Can I ask u if your weight gain was in your mid section?? And also, have u lost the weight after your surgery? Im really concerned about gaining weight, I know that isn't the way I prob should think, but im 37 and not really wanting to experience menopause, but also looking forward a little to not having g pain from my cysts. Ill be having a TAH November 15.

My surgery date is the same as yours. My doctor says I have fibroids and pelvic pain, along with heavy, heavy periods when they do come. Somedays my pain is so bad I have to take a pain pill and than I have these periods when it is so umcomfortable to sit down. I feel as is I want to pass something and wondering if it could be my uterus. My symptons have changed so much since August when I first saw the GYN/ONC and he tells me they cannot be certian what is going on until they get the pathology test back. I hope your surgery will go well.

A couple of weeks before my TAH, as part of my month long, horrid period I was having really bad cramps in the night. I got back to sleep but when I woke in the morning and went into the bathroom, there was a large clump of tissue in my underwear. I assume it was a chunk of my uterine lining coming out. I totally freaked out. I was shaking so bad at work and finally got to call my doc. and she said it was not uncommon...uh, well, maybe not uncommon for some but it certainly was for me. I had never had anything like this before. At any rate, it is almost behind you and you will do great. I feel so much better since mine and I am sure you will too.

Re: Fast growing fibroids!

Ok first I have not been told I have fibriods but man my symptoms are way similar. I had an ultrasound and cat scan in july but they saw nothing. My question is how fast can these grow. Because from mid.aug til now my symptoms have snowballed. My doc hasnot done a pelvic.exam in or out since july. My new dymptoms are bleeding after sex, missed my period, then started to bleed off my schedule passing a piece of tissue to start with now clots. I know there was no way I.couuld be prego but I felt like I was 3 months along. I would kno as ive had 5 kids. Have any of you had the same happen to u

Re: Fast growing fibroids!

I had very LG. Fibroids. My periods were extremely heavy. I would go through a pad every 20 to 30 minutes for 3 days every month. They went from being 5 days long to 14 days to a full month long. I had bad lower back pain, heartburn and tons of pressure on my tummy. There is more but you may need to go back to your doc or get a second opinion.

Re: Fast growing fibroids!

I was exhausted too from losing so much blood. They thought mine was one softball sized fibroid. It ended up being a softball, a volleyball and several golf ball sized fibroids. I was shocked to say the least. The doctor told me "You impressed the OR and they do not impress easily!" LOL Glad I gave them all something to talk about at dinner time. LOL
