Lupron side effects or ovaries "waking up"???

so I had a one month Lupron injection on 9-6 and have been having terrible cramping and mood swings pretty bad the last couple of days. (figuring out insurance before scheduling hyster) I don't know if I'm getting a period this month, if its still side effects from the Lupron, or if my ovaries are starting to work again?!?! I just wish I could get everything figured out and have the surgery already!!!! I feel like I'm losing my mind with all the emotion/stress I've been feeling Worried about my DH and how long HE can put up with my madness!!!! I'm scared of having the surgery, but look forward to how great (I hope) to feel

Re: Lupron side effects or ovaries "waking up"???

Perdue98, Is it time for your regular cycle? I had 6 months of Lupron shots and by the end of them, when it was time for my next cycle my back was hurting and I was crampy and grumpy for about 5 days even though I no longer was having a period. I hope this helps with some of your anxiety.

I start Lupron on Thursday, and I am really nervous I have read some nasty things about it. What type of side effects did you have?

Re: Lupron side effects or ovaries "waking up"???

dwadeb, while everyone is different, I personaly had 6 months of Lupron, with 1 shot every month. The injection site smarted the next day and after about 3 months vaginal dryness set in but was taken care of with a hormone cream and as you read above the crampy, grumpy, backache, at the time of the regular period, and that didn't start till after a few months. So in my case not to bad. Good luck tomprrpw.

Re: Lupron side effects or ovaries "waking up"???

sorry dwadeb I haven't responded my ipad doesn't show replies to threads! The first month of Lupron I had nausea, vomiting and trouble concentrating. My doc wanted me to take another shot since after the month, the pain came back with a vengenance This time I have had a lot of bone pain and going up and down the stairs of my tri level home has become a daunting idea. It does help with the pain, but trading that for the array of side effects is very difficult. I hear a few people do really well though and I'm hoping you'll be one of them

Re: Lupron side effects or ovaries "waking up"???

Well I got to nervous about them and canceled. Really got scared after I found out Lupron w as a form of chemotherapy. So now, I dont know what to do. Can't have a tvh without the injections due to the size of my uterus. And dr thinks a tah is dangerous due to my severe anemia.. I feel stuck, but I am just to scared of the injections. Wish there was another way to shrink the uterus

Re: Lupron side effects or ovaries "waking up"???

I've had 4 months of Zoladex (what Lupron is called here in the Uk) and it's been really helpful. My periods have stopped in that time and my whole swollen abdomen has shrunk, ready for my op on Weds.

I did have dreadful PMS after my first injection - I was close to murder! - but it only lasted a day or two. The other side effects is that my boobs have shrunk, and I have lost my libido - just thankful that I hope to be back to normal for a few more years after this has worn off.

The worst thing about this stuff, in my experience, is that you forget how bad things were when you went to your doc begging for them to take it all away!

I hope you manage to get the treatment you need.

PS - "chemotherapy" only means a treatment that involves chemicals so virtually all medicines can be called chemotherapy.
