Internal Radiation Implant

I am scheduled to go to surgery on 12/19 for the implant under general anesthesia. More questions...

1. Was there bleeding afterwards? Will I have to wear pads again?

2. Will I be able to walk? In pain?

I think of all these other questions to ask after I meet with the doctor and they never tell you everything.

Thank you again.

Internal Radiation Implant

Hi dragonlady.......... well its almost done

Are you having the internal where you are locked in the room for x no. of hours (low dose ) or the high dose that takes a few minutes?

I had the low dose type and I didnt have bleeding afterwards but I did wear a pad home as I had a discharge which is quite normal after pelvic radiation and it can continue for sometime. Mine has just finished ........6 mths post radiation. But it is not too heavy just a lighj panty liner is enough.

I walked out of the hospital........... on second thoughts I think I ran and I had a slight pain but nothing over the counter meds didnt fix.

I know it is scary . I was so , so scared but it isnt as bad as you expect. Honestly. There are quite a few of us here who have had it and most of them say the same.

Best of luck with it all. We are cheering you on much love always x x x Keeping you close to my heart

Internal Radiation Implant

Hiya,
Ditto for me. I had the same treatment as Robyn. Same side effects and very little pain. In the hospital however, I was on valium and painkillers.

Internal Radiation Implant

I am having the high dose. I am going in for my 3rd external tomorrow through mid-January. But the radiologist oncologist is going to have the implant inserted Wednesday. He tells me the first (of 5) internal should be about 4 hours and shorter each time.
The technician said the internal should start after my external are completed. I wish he can wait on the implant procedure as I am still in recovery from the failed TAH on 11/19. I am so tired and also tired of all these surgical procedures: cone biopsy (9/28), failed TAH (11/19) and now implant.

Thank you for your prayers and support. I have praying a lot for myself and everyone going through this.

Internal Radiation Implant

I am not sure about the high dose. My internal was done with caesium rods which were put into place while under a general anaesthesia. I had a two week break between the external and internal to allow the burns to heal.

I know how you feel about all the procedures, this past year has just been one procdure after another. But it is over for me now and soon it will be for you as well. Hang in there , you can do it.

I know one sister who had the high dose : breezyb. I am sure she would be more than willing to help. Do a search under her name and send her and email. Best of luck , love always x x x
