42 and in massive pain for the last year!

Hello and thank you so much for having a site like this!! I have been tossed back and forth for the last year from specialist to specialist trying to find a reason for all my pain! Finally I went to see my gyno, which is the only female doc have seen, and she suggested adenomyosis. She did a lap adhesiolysis and lesion removal and tubiligation on Aug 31 but as soon as I got my next period the pain all came searing back to me!! She is so incredible though, because I just went in to see her on Thursday and told her I def want to have the hysterectomy and she said no problem! She told me there have been many cases where women who had pain and even had normal sized uterus and normal ct scan and ultrasound, only to find after hyster and pathology that it was adeno! So now I am looking forward to gettin back to normal after the surgery.... hoping and praying! My symptoms started as just looking pregnant when I knew I wasn't and being so tired all the time! I had pain in my side which can only be described as nagging, but my left hip has been on fire for a year! Lots of disturbances with my bowels on the left side, but gastro said nothing was wrong! And MRI showed a healthy spine! Ultrasound and CT, showed nothing abnormal either! Transvaginal showed uterus to be a bit boggy and that was attributed to the scar tissue covering it. I have adhesions due to an emergency operation 20 years ago which saved my life. She did remove some during the lap, but maybe they can get more when they go back in... The surgery 20 yrs ago was due to a ruptured ectopic that destroyed my right ovary and tube. I have 3 beautiful children and have no desire to have any more. So I am just really ready to feel better. Please wish me luck!

Re: 42 and in massive pain for the last year!

I wish you the best of luck. I had the same symptoms you do along with a dermoid cyst on one ovary and a reg. cyst on the other and endo, after my hysterectomy I was told I had andenomyosis as well. I am 10 weeks out and I feel fantatic. Best decision I ever made.

Again, good luck

Re: 42 and in massive pain for the last year!

thanks Tracy! I actually had no fear in my decision to do the surgery. After coming here and reading so many stories of other women with the same issues, I was quite bold with my gyno and she had no problem with my decision. Thank God for a great "female" doc who knows how to listen! I will def be posting more here after the surgery.
