Getting prepared for the castle and home

I've learned alot on this website! So far I've gone to Ross and saved a bundle! I got a cozy microfiber throw blanket for the castle ( thier blankets are never comfortable! Or warm! ) , a bed sit up pillow, slip on slippers, large waist high underware, and a bed tray. Other things I've gotten include gas-x, stool softener, A heating pad and gummy fiber things . And bringing a mini pillow pet and my robe and toiletries. I think that's all I'll need. I have several books and the tv if I get bored. I plan on stocking the freezer with lean
cusines for a quick meal. I figure that's about everything! Oh- most important- ordering the abdominal binder from this site too! Anyone with suggestions on something I've left out would be appreciated! Good luck to all !

Re: Getting prepared for the castle and home

Large-sized pants (outerwear) with loose waist, like drawstring. Unless you are wearing loose dresses (not sure what weather you will be having).

I had my TAH/BSO in late winter (down here in NZ) and needed warm pants. I lived in them, and really needed the loose-fitting waist. My ordinary waist-sized pants are a bit uncomfortable long term.
Depending on your surgery type and what help you have, a reacher/grabber can help if you don't want to bend. Can get from a hardware store.
Otherwise I think you are well-prepared!

Good luck!

If you have a preference as far as the brand of pads you use, you may want to pack your own for your hospital stay. Some hospitals provide the big bulky belted kind. Also, my last hospital stay was an emergency but I did learn a valuable lesson..... If I am to receive pain meds during the night, I need to have a pack of peanut butter crackers or cookies or something to eat with my meds to avoid that empty hangover feeling in my belly.
