Re: DiVinci "robot"

The way I figure, it will make 2012 a FABULOUS year even if the holidays are a little low key, lol.
You and I should be feeling pretty darn good come New Years.

Re: DiVinci "robot"

I had the daVinci hysterectomy and I am glad that I did. I was back to work within 3 1/2 weeks. I was able to NOT have to tell my boss that was recovering from a hysterectomy due to pre-cancer.

I just told him about the physical problems leading up to the hysterectomy that I had (cysts, fibroids, benign tumors, polyps, borderline proliferating tumor, prolapsed uterus, excessive bleeding, severe pain, etc.).
If you just need a hysterectomy for physical reasons, it is fine to go with a regular gyn.
If you have even a "hint" of cancer, please get another opinion from a gynecologist/oncologist.

I was so happy that I chose the latter, just in case.

Also, it helps to ask how long the hospital has had the daVinci robot, and how many surgeries has your doctor done on the new "robot."

At the local cancer hospital, they have had the robot for far longer than my local hospital. My local hospital JUST got it in July.
I am not sure that the doctors at my local hospital have had enough practice. There is a "learning curve."
I had pre-cancerous cells on top of everything else, so I went with a gyn/oncologist. This way, if there are any problems or surprises with more cancer than previously thought, the right surgeon is already doing the hysterectomy and can possibly save me from another surgery down the road.

Yeah, I think I may be surprised how different I feel afterwards. You know all the "stuff" that you just live with and come to know as "normal". Hoping it is a big shock to me to feel better, you know? Fibroids suck.

Re: DiVinci "robot"

I am having the DaVinci on the 29th of November. The only thing I havent been able to find out - and will probably find out at the pre-op, is how long the surgery typically takes. I have no doubt that it's the right procedure for me. My doctor says he doesn't like to do it any other way.

Re: DiVinci "robot"

My doc said mine would take longer, cause of all they have to pull out. She said 2-3 hours.
