Going in tomorrow morning! So scared!

I've been trying to not smoke, and trying to relax and get all the house work done. My biggest fear is I'm gonna die. My daughter is scared but I tell her it's ok. My husband is sure it will be ok too. Anyone else feel this? How safe is all

Re: Going in tomorrow morning! So scared!

i haven't had my surgery yet, but i have had other surgeries....i remember the first time i was scared so much the doctors actually gave me the "coctail" in the or holding room...i remember my mom holding my hand and the doctor telling the nurse to give me the rest since i was still crying, even though i was drifting....if this is a first-time experience going under it is more than ok to be paniced and scared...even though i've been under four+ times, i still get worried...i think it's normal...

you are going to do great! if you haven't been under, make sure to ask questions of your anestesioligist (sorry for the spelling)...he/she should come see you before you go into the or...if you have been under before, make sure to explain any issues you've had with anestesia...i woke up from my first surgery (repairing deviated septum and removing polups) with the worst headache of my life! the recovery nurse actually yelled at me to shut up! thankfully, i've had much better nurses since! when i had my gallbladder removed, i promptly threw up when i reached the bathroom to use the now, i let the doctors know so they can have meds on standby in case there are issues...

give your daughter a big hug, give your husband a big kiss, go have another cigarette and breathe....the worse part of any surgery (in my opinon) is the waiting...

Re: Going in tomorrow morning! So scared!

I am horrified I am going to die also so don't feel alone. My husband also says everything will be fine. Everyone I have talked to that had any surgery said everything was fine and not worry. I think we would be crazy if we weren't worrying. I will be thinking about you tomorrow and let us all know how surgery went :-)

I haven't had my surgery yet either but I have also had other surgeries where I was completely knocked out hooked to tubes and the works. it's scary the first time but it is only natural to be afraid, you will do great! I agree with daisymayzy waitig is the worst part in my opinion also.

Re: Going in tomorrow morning! So scared!

I'm scheduled for the 28th. I think the waiting is the worst. Have gone under before with no issues. It's the post-op that I'm worried about ! Good luck everyone !

Re: Going in tomorrow morning! So scared!

All of you ladies will do fine. Just focus on yourself and ask the doctor any questions when you see them before you go in. The nurses will be very helpful too.

Heavens don't smoke though! Good luck to all.

Re: Going in tomorrow morning! So scared!

I am also going tomorrow. My time was moved up to 11:00 instead of noon. I am feeling much better still worried of course. I talked to my Dr. because I was so stressed over some stuff I read and what people have been telling me regarding keeping or removing ovaries. See you on the other side. May be a while before I am on though only have desktop computer.
