Post-op Hopes and Dreams

Just for fun, ladies.

I'm a month from surgery and actually excited. I've live with my problems for so long that the idea of being rid of them makes me almost giddy.

I've been reading so much here about worries and fears and I know we all have them, but after responding to a post about toe nail polish and literally laughing out loud I thought a opportunity to talk about post op dreams would be just the ticket. Here are mine:

Pain free, no more periods, no more surprise periods, no more changing clothes and pre-treating for menstrual blood, no more anemia, no more foggy brain. AND (drum roll please) last but not least: A drawer full of awesome new lingerie that isn't blood stained!

Re: Post-op Hopes and Dreams

No more pain, no more anemia and foggy brain, spending my life in the bathroom either for bleeding or peeing, no more planning life around my periods which are becoming more unpredictable, and I agree, no more bloodstained clothes, for me it goes beyond undies since I've had to pitch pants too.

Re: Post-op Hopes and Dreams

I had no appreciation for how infrequently I would need to pee. I had totally forgotten what that was like! I saw a post that someone was going to buy some sexy white undies. That one really made me laugh - I think only this board would be excited about white undies.

Re: Post-op Hopes and Dreams

All of my post-op dreams have come true...my husband I have been together for 8 years and I have NEVER been able to wear sexy lingerie because even on birth control, I never knew when my period was going to come and I was just so nervous to start something I couldn't finish...but now......

I'm finally able to break out all the stuff I got for my bridal shower...including the one I was supposed to wear on our wedding night, but couldn't because I was spotting for some reason.

It is AMAZING!!!

I used to get so upset because you pretty much can't buy a package of cotton panties that doesn't have at least 2 pairs of white undies in it....and I had always put those to the back of my drawer, but now, I specifically look for them because I CAN!!!

Best of luck to all of you pre-op ladies....it is FABULOUS on "the other side"!!

I can get behind that. I'm mostly excited too. After bleeding for 8.5 weeks straight, feeling like I was dying, I'm rather excited to fix this too.

I've always had irregular cycles (couldn't tell when they were going to show up), so I'm looking forward to not having to worry about it ever again! No more packing pads/moon cup "just in case" when we go camping or on vacation. No more cramps, no more huge blood clots!! No more staining the bed from gushing. No worrying about pregnancy anymore (my pelvic bones don't "heal" postpartum, and knock/grind still three years later after my last birth, plus dealing with anemia, etc). No more anemia!!! No more non stop bleeding, wondering if/when it will ever end! My cervix hurting from the constant, huge clots that were coming out. I'm looking forward to feeling free from it all.

I think I'm going to get a pedicure right before too!! And maybe get my legs waxed since I apparently won't be bending for awhile.

Re: Post-op Hopes and Dreams

Ladies...it is SO NICE to not have to deal with having your period while you're away on vacation. It's also nice not having to worry about BIRTH CONTROL!!!! My bf and I have been together for 10 years and it is so nice not having to use a condom. Sex is also so much better because there's no pain any more. I am REALLY glad I had this surgery.

Re: Post-op Hopes and Dreams

Oh, it's so funny to hear about women being excited about white panties...For the past 10 years, I've worn nothing BUT white underwear because I worked as a painter and had to wear white painter pants (UGH...talk about a pain when you have your period!!!). I was worried about colored or patterned underwear showing through the white fabric. Prior to my surgery, I bought some colored/patterned underwear in a larger size to wear during recovery. My boyfriend LOVED THEM!!!! I told him I didn't realize he disliked my boring white underwear, he should have said something to me...he said he didn't know he had a choice!!! It's crazy how excited he gets over just a pair of colored underwear...LOL!

Re: Post-op Hopes and Dreams

I'm also excited about new panties (in any color, just without stains!!), I'm excited about new sheets. I'm excited that I can go anywhere/do anything without having to worry about my period. I'm looking forward to going away with my husband and having hotel sex and not having to worry about making a mess (why do periods always start at the worst possible time?) I'm excited about swimming in the summer on a moment's notice. I'm excited to clear out space under the bathroom sink and get rid of my ginormous collection of pads.

I've just got to get through these last two days of waiting (biting nails, errrrg), and then nothing but good things on the horizon!!
