Re: Adenomyosis - hysterectomy recommended

if you have your hysterectomy approved, GET IT! I can tell you it is the most freeing and wonderful thing I have ever experienced once I was recovered.

keep the ovary if you can. but let them take teh cervix too! then no more pap smears! I always had painful paps and was delited to lose the cervix too!

3 years later, I calculate how many periods I have "missed" but boy have I NOT MISSED THEM!!!!

Athough a hysterectomy will cure adenomyosis, it's very important that you should know it will not cure endometriosis.

Also, not all doctors will allow women with endometriosis to keep their ovaries ~ or use HRT ~ so please consider seeing an <link> Endometriosis Specialist. We also have an Endometriosis Support Forum too, where you can get more information.

Best wishes and positive thoughts!

Re: Hysterectomy for adenomyosis and endometriosis

Well, I had my laparoscopic hysterectomy last Thursday, Nov. 3rd, so, it's been one week today. I kept my right ovary. There was NO endometriosis , only adenomyosis, but the lab reports will confirm everything in a few weeks. I am happy that my ovaries were fine. I tell you though, the removal of my left ovary BURNED this radiating burning sensation for 4 days. It is much better now. I am just weak. Ahhh, it's done. The doctors were amazing.
