Does ovary removal reduce Acne?

I am having a Davinci total hysterectomy next month for a bicornuate uterus and excess bleeding. I also have a right ovary that is very painful every month during ovulation. I am planning on talking to my DR about removing it. Plus since I always broke out in acne during ovulation and around my period due to hormones.
Has anyone had their skin improve after having their hysterecomy?

Re: Does ovary removal reduce Acne?

I always had breakouts before my period. I have not had one since having ovaries and uterus out, but once they were out all kinds of menopausal symptoms were unleashed. I would have kept them , but my mom died of ovarian cancer and I was getting to menopausal age. The thing is that the ovaries do give us needed hormones for many years, and the HRT has never been as good as what the ovaries produced.

We sometimes trade one problem for another when we remove our ovaries.

Re: Does ovary removal reduce Acne?

Hey of my first posts here...just wanted to say that I have dealt with hormonal breakouts every month of my life since I was a teen, and I'm 47 now! I also have very sensitive skin, so there's been very little I could do about it that didn't actually make things even worse. I'm very curious to see if my surgical menopause will provide any relief in that dept. It's scheduled for next week - 10/26. I have a host of problems, but the one that prompted me most to also take out ovaries is my increasing level of CA-125 (ovarian cancer cell) blood count.

Lost my mother to cervicial cancer when she was 38, I was 16, so I have no qualms about any of this. Have never stayed in hospital before though, and in fact am scared of hospitals due to the bad experience with mom, so naturally I'm getting nervous, but I know I will get through this - mom will be watching over me. Mainly worried about finding the right HRT for me, but I know I will get there in time. Will try to keep you posted - good luck!
